Savannah has turned into such a fun loving, easy going little girl. She is a Mommy's girl all the way! Because she is always happy and smiling we thought a perfect theme would be smiley faces. I found a smiley face flower balloon in Walmart and took off with that. I made her cake to somewhat match that balloon. The cake was huge and unfortunately when it settled it cracked a little in the center. I would like to thank everyone who helped with this party and was so wonderful to us as we were able to pull off such a huge party out of state. My Aunt Maryann and Uncle Vern was wonderful and offered her house up as a place to have the party where she took off with making and abundant amount of delicious food. My dad was super as well to provide a lot of the food. Apparently he thought we were feeding an actual army~he got a little out of control :) But we had some great laughs over it! :) We are so thankful to all of our friends and family who made this day special! Thank you so much for all the wonderful gifts to Savannah, (working on the Thank You notes :P) she is truly blessed!!!!
Savannah is such a wonderful blessing to this family and we love her so much. The doctors call her a peanut at only 19 lbs and 29". She is such a loving little girl who is always giving a hug or a kiss and loves to snuggle. She loves her big sister and wants to be just like her, and has shown such gentleness to other little ones that we know she will also be a great big sister.
Savannah began walking without any more crawling on Thanksgiving day, but took her first steps at 9 1/2 months. She signs more, all done, please, eat, and milk. She has several words as well, her very first was "hi" followed by Mama, Dada, doggie, woof, duck, that, and down. She has been able to follow 1 step directions for a while and comprehends more than I ever thought was even possible at this age. She is very sensitive to loud noises and when being corrected she will not look you in the eye, she knows what she is doing is wrong. She will obey if we tell her "no" or "no touch". The only thing we pray that she gets better at is enjoying her car seat in long rides. She is not a fan of being in her car seat, especially long rides to MA. She will have to somehow get use to them, but we are working on ways to make it a little more enjoyable for her. As of January 1st she has been officially off bottles and on sippies for milk, water, and juice. She is doing great! So much better than I had thought. It's funny how we as parents stress so much on transitions like that for a child, when really there is no need. I think it's more the sadness for us of them giving up something and growing up. Savannah also had 3 teeth completely through by her first birthday and then on December 19th another one broke through on the top. She had her 2 top and 2 bottom on her birthday. As of today she has 4 top and still 2 bottom.
Here are some pictures of her party and her actual birthday, enjoy!
Savannah's birthday cake.
On her birthday we went to Chuck E. Cheese. We took Sydney there on her first birthday. It was definitely a different experience when it's more than one child. Savannah wasn't as much into it as we thought she would be. Sydney took over and she just followed her lead.
