I was concerned at first on how Sydney would do with her balance on the boat. She runs around and falls and gets hurt here on solid ground 10 times a day, yet on the rocky boat she didn't fall once?!?! She obeyed all the boat rules and had just a great time being on the boat and looking out into the ocean. The whale watch actually lasted 5 hours! We got lost out to sea watching the show the whales were putting on for us!
We only had one issue on the boat and it was with a grown woman. Apparently she thought she owned the boat and stood at the front of the boat the entire fir 3-4 hours we were on the boat. Grampy took Sydney out front to see everything as we were pulling out of the harbor. This woman told him "this is not a place for her to be" and then proceeded to take her arm and drag her back to Grampy! The woman had the nerve to touch Sydney! I was mad at that point! It wasn't like someone wasn't watching her nor was she misbehaving?!?! That did not stop me from taking her up there to see the whales! She had every right to be there just like everyone else! This was the only woman on the boat that had a problem with Sydney. Everyone else on the other hand treated Sydney like she was a Hollywood Star! I had people coming up to me asking me if they could take her picture because she was so cute! The Captain saluted her every time he saw her. When we were leaving the boat at the end of the day everyone was yelling to her "Bye Sydney!" You would think they were on a Sydney watch and not a whale watch =)
It took a while to go out to where the whales actually were, when we finally spotted one the boat stopped. Sydney and I went outside of the boat to see where it was. It had taken a dive down into the water, and in the complete silence of the boat Sydney yells to the whale: "Whale, where are you? Come out, we want to take your picture!" Of course that made everyone on the boat laugh =)
We did see over 100 dolphins jumping everywhere are one point. They swam all around us~it was just an amazing site! We also saw a fin back whale and several humpback whales. Two of the humpbacks had their calves with them. The moms where feeding and the calves were having a grand time putting on a show for the boat. They were amazing! They came right up to the boat for us!
I am so glad that Sydney had a great trip for her first time. She completely understood what were were doing and loved being out to sea! I can definitely see us doing this every year!
While waiting to get on the boat Sydney spotted ducks!
