Getting Into It

We have been doing the ocean for our topic in school~learning about the different animals that live in the ocean. We got some ocean themed books from the library that we have been reading, she has plastic whales, dolphins, and seals that she takes in the tub with her, and well as some other random activities based on the ocean theme. Today we began to make a mural of the ocean. I put paper up on the fence and gave Sydney a squirt bottle with blue food coloring in it and had her spray the whole paper. After her nap it was completely dry and ready for more additions to it. I had taken sponges and cut out a fish, jellyfish, starfish, and seaweed out and she used those as stamps to add things in her ocean. The finished product actually looks really cool!

Sydney also made her own little ocean in a jar. She took sand from her sandbox, added some starfish we had, seashells, and some plastic whales and dolphins and water. Now she has her own little ocean in a jar!

Also after nap we went outside and she got to play with her ocean moon sand set. She made a treasure chest and some scuba divers to dive in after the treasure. She really used her imagination with the moon sand. While she was playing with her moon sand her and I were talking about how the different sea creatures breath in the ocean~which ones need to come up for air and which ones don't. She's learning that there are so many different things found in the ocean.

Making her sea.

She's concentrating~the tongue is out.

While she was outside she had to stop for some sand for her ocean.

Time to get things to go in her ocean in a jar.

Adding her water~it's not an ocean without water!

In go the star fish and seashells.

Complete!

Time to add the sea life!

Adding a little greenery to the ocean.

Getting the high places!

Her beautiful ocean!

Moon Sand!

SO cute! I love the ocean jar---that is adorable! Ava has been super into letters so I might need some ideas to jog my memory about teaching letters. The girls are gorgeous and hope you are doing well! :)
