Birds

This week for school Sydney is learning about birds and all the different kinds of birds there are. We read books about penguins, owls, and ducks today. Sydney then created birds using different shapes. She made an turkey and a goose. She also made a bat, but we weren't sure if a bat was considered a type of bird, and we researched it and discovered that it isn't a bird. Birds have feathers and a bat has fur. Even I learn something :)
Sydney also practiced some of her letters today. She had done her "Y" and "E" so today we practiced the letter "N". I am working on the letters in her name so she will be able to write her name. She knows how to spell her name and recognizes all the letters in the name so now it's time to write them.
We also did some counting with "eggs" (jelly beans) in two different nests. We did several trials with the eggs, but one in particular she had to do was when she was given 8 eggs she had to place them in the nests but making sure there were an equal number of eggs in each nest. She was even learning how to subtract eggs.
Sydney really enjoys our time together at school. She will actually sit still and want to do more and more activities. She always gets really excited when I tell her in the morning that we are doing school. I don't think I will be able to homeschool her in the future~she's too much of a social butterfly. We will see what her future holds for her schooling future~still undecided.

Making her goose out of shapes.

She had to identify the shapes and tell me how many of each shape she needed and then find the shape and count out how many she needed. She got all her shapes correct and identified all her numbers correctly too. She is going to be really good in math just like her Dad!

Making her turkey.

Just some of the letters she wrote.

Adding eggs to her nests.

Counting her eggs to make sure she has the correct amount.

Gotta incorporate our lessons even into our lunch~eggs!
