Pond Life

After reading books, singing songs, doing a project and talking about things that live in a pond at the library we took the idea home and went with it. Sydney and I read books about frogs that start out as tadpoles and how there are so many different kinds of frogs in the world. We talked about how tadpoles have just tales and breathe through gills and then as they become frogs, they loose their tail, get legs and arms and then start to breath through nostrils. We then included a project which made her utilize and practice many of her skills. She had to first cut paper to make grass, use her pincher grasp to take the paper off of the back of the frogs and turtles and then she had to glue the grass onto her paper and then finally use her fine motor skills to draw tadpoles in the pond. She did a great job~we need a little more work with the scissors, but her drawing abilities are getting so much better!

Cutting the grass. She cheats by utilizing the table to help close down on the scissors.

She's working hard!

Time for the glue!

The girls are so much like their father~stick out their tongue when they concentrate.

Drawing her tadpoles.

Her masterpiece!

Check out those tadpoles! So cute!

Our books which gave us the idea for project.
