Story Hour

Every Tuesday our local library has a story hour for children. I love going to it with both the girls. It's never too early to start having Savannah listen to stories~we do try to read with her too about 20 minutes a day. They also do songs, felt board stories, and crafts. Sydney really enjoys going not only to pick out her weekly books, but to be able to make friends and play there as well.
Sydney has even begun to pick out some "chapter" books to read at home. We read a chapter or two a day and then at the end I ask her questions to make sure she is paying attention because not every page has pictures, so she has to pay attention to me reading without seeing a picture as to what is going on in the book. She is doing well with her comprehension of the stories.

Mr. Wilson reading for story hour. This was last week~Sydney and Savannah listening together.

This week they read stories about frogs and other creatures that live in a pond. Then they made their own ponds with creatures to go in their pond. Their projects are definitely product vs. process, but it's free fun for the kids and they are still learning.

Her finished product.
